No, I'm not about to start each of my rants with some meaningful quote, but this one makes sense here. Thanks to Mezawari Subs for your recent speedy subs! I'm not a patient person.
えと。。。
I suppose a short summary of the Anime is in order. I'm also a lazy person, so here's a summary from a source! :D
Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi are pretty much foils of each other. Mashiro, an average 9th grade student but talented artist, and Takagi, an overall advanced 9th grader and aspiring writer. After great convincing, Takagi convinces Mashiro to join him in becoming the greatest mangakas Japan has ever seen. Takagi, with his gift of writing, hopes to become a successful mangaka, and Mashiro, with his gift of art, hopes to marry the girl of his dreams, Azuki Miho.
In the previous episode we saw Ashirogi Muto (penname for Mashiro and Takagi as Manga artists using wordplay with their names) reunite. Yay~ Silly little plot hole in my opinion, especially since it only lasted an episode, but I digress.
=O Miyoshi's a fatty! |
Let it be known that I still don't like the intro to this Anime. In some cases OPs grow on me and in others (this) they just never do. I think it's the singer's voice...meh.
Episode starts out with Mashiro and Takagi talking their plans for a detective manga over. Mashiro wrote a name (something of a manuscript for chapters in their developmental stages) he was embarrassed about, Takagi's drawings suck, they achieve their chemistry as a combo, blah blah blah.
The main character of "Shady Detective Trap." |
The real part of this conversation is that they decide to take a little longer than the 6 months they originally planned to use to write the name for the detective manga they have planned, since it won't matter if it isn't the absolute best they can come up with, and since Hattori-san (the editor they work with) sent Takagi 6 boxes of mystery filled manga and movies to study on. In the midst of all this, we find out that Miyoshi has dropped her cellphone writing career (predictable) and opts to help out Mashiro and Takagi in hopes to see Mashiro and Azuki married sooner.
Full of win, in more ways than one. Hattori 1, Takagi 0. |
In other news, Azuki's got a singing role in her Anime's ending theme! Interesting stuff, being a seiyuu and all.
And she sucks at it! Poor girl xD |
After this point, a long time passes (6, 7, 8 months..? I can't remember). How do I know? Other than how they mention it later in the episode, this random person handing out something I can't identify appears three times in three different seasons.
Here it's Winter. *cough* This isn't rushed at all... *cough* |
After this large amount of time, they meet up with Hattori and drop 8 names on his desk. He had no idea they were working together again and planned to reunite them with the meeting but alas, that wasn't necessary, and they pulled a fast one on him. Much to my own surprise, he approved with two conditions: 1) They do well in this Golden Cup of sorts where readers rate the mangas and 2) They come up with a finished chapter every two weeks, to simulate serialization. Pretty fair in my opinion.
They later run into Fukuda-kun and decide on a friendly competition with the overall goal to change JACK (the magazine) by all getting serialized eventually. This guy's cool. Doesn't get much screen time but he trumps Mashiro in my opinion.
This guy, a.k.a. Fukuda-kun. Notice it's not winter. |
The rest of the episode consists of a good 5 minutes dragging out Mashiro, Miyoshi and Takagi waiting on Hattori's response for their entry (or lack thereof) into the Golden Cup thing which was part of the first condition. And, lo and behold, they make it. おめでとう、ふたりさん。
Aaand queue the end of the episode. Here's some random screen caps to make you happy. Or not.
And here we have Miyoshi taking out the trash. Sexist? A little. |
Awkward turtle~ Love his face. (Speaking: Miyoshi to Takagi) |
And here marks the end of my first rant! This took me just under an hour to do and I don't know if I have that kind of time on my hands but if I can manage it this will continue. Hope you liked it!
Til next time,
Elunix
